About Liberated Leaders

At Liberated Leaders, we prepare leaders to upskill and re-invent themselves and their leadership style to navigate increasingly uncertain and complex operating environments. We do this by building skills and practices to help leaders and their teams deal with growth, change and disruption in a positive and constructive way.

Founded in 2017, Liberated Leaders brings more than 40 years of leadership practice to life, through the passion and inspiration of Co-Founders Tony Carew and Paula Drayton.

We offer a variety of Leadership Programs that range from 1-day to 10 months in duration, with the aim of growing our community of leaders to be more powerful and influential in the way they lead and innovate. We aspire for the leaders we work with to engage in meaningful regional and global conversations that have impact for the domains they desire to change – within and beyond their leadership remits.

Our Flagship Foundations Program welcomes its fourth class in 2020. Since inception in 2017, our graduates have in many cases transformed themselves and opened new possibilities in leadership and life.

In August 2018, we offered our graduate Alumni an intimate, retreat-style Masterclass which comprised of 2 days of learning around the topic “Being with Busy”. The retreat-style Masterclass was such a success, that we ran our second Masterclass, extended to 3-days titled “Mastering Provocation” in March 2019 and will offer our first “Conversational Mastery” Masterclass in March 2020.

In response to a request from our Graduates, in January 2019, we designed and ran our first Leadership Accelerator Program, recognising a need to equip leaders with new skills – fast. This 1-day learning experience is time and price accessible and gives participants a series of discreet skills to walk away with. This now runs in major cities along the East Coast of Australia and Adelaide.

Fuelled by more requests from our customers, we recognised that rapid skill building is in strong demand by businesses who cannot afford to wait for Transformational Learning. Our 2-day Skills Intensive program event fills that gap, offering 12 discreet skills. In a conference-like ‘streamed’ format, so that participants can choose the 8 most relevant skills that apply for them.

We are a business in the business of innovating – believing that we need to practice what we advocate. Opening to possibilities, responding to the feedback of our customers, keeping abreast of market trends and holding a vision for organisations to be a place where people thrive.

Our Approach

We believe that each leader’s experience of growth and change can inform, stretch and grow them. We also believe that the transformation of organisations begins first with the transformation of its leaders. This is not solely an academic exercise. It is experiential, multi-mode and supported, revealing new ‘ways of being’ that support the future our leaders wish to create.

When we work with leaders, we do so as a human being (first) and leader (second). We transform their relationship with disruption, supporting them to produce new opportunities in uncertain contexts.

Our ‘way of being’ approach works with the narratives leaders tell themselves about themselves and their context, and over time, this can be evolved. This is Liberation.
We evolve these narratives for the sake of leaders reconnecting with their power, with possibility and for them to build new skills and practices to withstand current and future changes to their circumstances. Meanwhile, still maintaining a level of optimism and hope for the future. This is our work.

What we uniquely understand is that the design, content and experience of ‘learning’ must evolve to reach this aspiration. In order for leadership to reach this possibility, leaders themselves need to see the world of possibilities and be in that world in a new way.

This is why and how we have re-created learning as an applied and personal experience first and foremost. Our aspiration is to reveal for leaders that they can unlearn old and unhelpful ways and instead adopt new narratives, moods and a more powerful way of ‘showing up’ since it is likely that in their near future, they will need to re-invent over and over again.
