About our Leadership Intensive

The Leadership Intensive is a 7-month short-course online Program designed to equip leaders with skills and practices to more effectively lead in these pandemic times.

This Program takes the key elements from our Foundations Program and adds additional 1-1 coaching support from Program Leaders to ensure leaders meet their Program objectives and establish themselves as future-ready.

What we cover in 7 months

Move 1 - 2-day Online Workshop

In Move 1 we set the scene for the 7-month intensive. We will begin the Program by asserting the importance of ‘being a learner’ in the age of disruption, as well as explore the narratives you live in and lead from. You will identify your Program Objectives and the barriers that may present along your learning journey. You will learn how to build and restore trust, converse when your standards are not met, and explore the context of disruption you lead from. Critically, we will pay attention to moods, which we say ‘create’ the space of innovation. You will identify and reveal the moods you lead from and how to shift these for the sake of creating a culture that enables creative thinking, collaboration and above all possibility.

Move 1 will be followed by a private 1-1 coaching session, team meeting and webinar to support the learning and embedding process.

Move 2 – Half day Online Workshop

In Move 2 we will explore Way of Being.

“Way of Being” silently and invisibly informs how you observe and engage with the world. You will explore the interrelationship between your language (thinking and listening), moods, emotions and physiology and understand what makes you more and less resourceful as a leader. You will learn to observe and shift the deeply ingrained ‘Way of Being’, which may be historically invisible. By being more aware and more able to perceive your own and other’s Way of Being, you can shift how you perceive and respond to any situation.

Move 2 will be followed by a private 1-1 coaching session, team meeting and webinar to support the learning and embedding process.

Move 3 – Half day Online Workshop

In Move 3 we will explore Listening – Listening in your industry and beyond.

The possibilities and barriers leaders experience are a function of listening. We move beyond a cosmetic understanding of listening to reveal the social, cultural and historical lens you bring to your listening and how this can limit opportunities and shape moods. You will reflect on the way you ‘listen to’ and read the world. You will explore the quality of your research and tune in to conversations within and beyond your industry. You will be challenged to read and anticipate future shifts that will affect your business.

Move 3 will be followed by a private 1-1 coaching session, team meeting and webinar to support the learning and embedding process.

Move 4 – Half day Online Workshop

In Move 4 we will focus on Speech Acts, Mobilising and the Coordination of Action.

You will explore how effectively you and your team coordinate action to get things done. This exploration does not rely on systems. It identifies the coordination issues generated through unskilful communication, unclear requests, failure to reach shared understanding and the absence of conversations for accountability. You will undertake a desktop assessment of the cost of poor coordination and learn how to quickly eradicate this waste through a focus on Requests, Offers and Promises. You will complete this phase of the Program with ten discreet skills to better coordinate action through a handful of Speech Acts and a suite of conversations that transform your efficiency and effectiveness.

Move 4 will be followed by a private 1-1 coaching session, team meeting and webinar to support the learning and embedding process.

Move 5 – Half day Online Workshop

In Move 5 we will explore how to navigate Politics and Power.

You will identify circumstances where you’re prone to be unresourceful as a leader and transform this narrative through sensing anomalies, engaging with power and navigating politics. Ultimately, you will learn new skills to create safety and open conversations when you are most uncomfortable. You will complete this phase of the Program with insight into your provocations, biases, preferences and have a deeper sense of your relationship with power as a leader. The skills we learn will have you able to navigate tricky, political, power-driven dynamics and manage meetings and collective forums towards strategic outcomes.

Move 5 will be followed by a private 1-1 coaching session, team meeting and webinar to support the learning and embedding process.

Move 6 – 2-day Online Workshop

In Move 6 we will complete the learning journey with another 2-day intensive designed to integrate learning and ensure a strong practice-orientation for graduates.

Our final event offers the chance for more relationship building and applied practice. This includes interactive sessions on sharing and receiving assessments, conversational practices and managing provocations. We will link all elements of online learning and have you ‘declare’ the new future you’re creating using the skills and practices from the Program. A final module will have you adopt a leader-coach orientation, designed to lift your focus from current concerns to develop a view of the future concerns you wish to attend to as a leader. You will complete this Program with a sense of the new world you are creating as a leader and the skills to do it.

Move 6 will be followed by a private 1-1 coaching session and webinar to support the learning and embedding process.
